Allegra is a very popular brand of antihistamine that has been used successfully all around the world for a number of years. Each Allegra tablet contains the histamine H1-receptor antagonist known as fexofenadine hydrochloride as its active ingredient. Fexofenadine is a metabolite of terfenadine. Allegra 120mg ( milligram ) and 180mg tablets provide long-lasting, once-daily relief from the symptoms of seasonal allergies so you do not have to worry about its effectiveness becoming reduced throughout the day. Allegra 60mg tablets offer 12-hour relief and can be taken twice daily. All strengths of Allegra are designed to provide relief from allergic conditions like hayfever ( seasonal allergic rhinitis ) without causing drowsiness. Allerga 180mg is specially formulated to treat hives ( urticaria ), itching ( pruritus ), rashes, angioedema and swelling.
When you have an allergy, it is because the body has developed sensitivity to a particular allergen. Pollen, dust mites and mold spores are all common allergy triggers. Once the allergen is reintroduced into the body, the immune system mistakes it for a threatening invader and histamine and other chemicals are released from mast cells to combat it. It is histamine that produces allergy symptoms like a runny or itchy nose, red and watery eyes, sneezing, nasal congestion and an itchy throat. As an antihistamine, Allegra tablets help to alleviate these symptoms by blocking the effects of histamine.
