Telfast and Telfast Decongestant. Telfast is sold under the brand name Allegra in the United States. Telfast products can successfully treat the symptoms of hayfever, better known as seasonal allergic rhinitis, and other allergic conditions. While the specific allergen that prompts the release of histamine may be quite different, the symptoms that follow tend to share similar attributes. Often there is an increase in the amount of watery nasal discharge, eyes become irritated and start to water, eyelids become itchy and swollen, the nasal passages may become congested, and the sufferer may begin to sneeze. These symptoms do not have to be only seasonal, being related to the dissemination of certain types of pollen into the air. They can be perennial, which means that they can be experienced all year round, usually because they are attributed to indoor allergens such as dust or mould. Allergies frequently include dermatological symptoms that are also the result of the activity if histamine.
All Telfast products contain varying strengths of the antihistamine Fexofenadine Hydrochloride, which performs as a histamine H1-receptor antagonist. Histamine is the chemical that prompts the allergic reactions experienced by an allergy sufferer and Telfast helps to negate its effects. Telfast does not make you drowsy, which means that you can administer treatment without interrupting your busy lifestyle.
Telfast is available in three different strengths allowing treatment to be customised to meet the suit the needs of the patient. Telfast 60mg provides 12-hours of relief from allergies symptoms and is available in packs of tablets. Telfast 120mg offers 24-hour relief and comes in packets of 10 or 30 tablets. Telfast 180mg also relieves the discomfort of allergy symptoms for an entire day and are available in packs of 10 or 30 tablets. The 180mg tablets are better suited to treating allergic rashes and other complaints like chronic urticaria, which are hives, and pruritus, the itching that often accompanies allergies.
Telfast Decongestant, named Allegra D in the USA, is slightly different from the other Telfast products. Not only does it include 60mg of the antihistamine Fexofenadine Hydrochloride but it also incorporates 120mg of the decongestant Pseudoephedrine Hydrochloride. This means that it is very effective in treating respiratory conditions related to congestion of the throat and nose. Each packet of Telfast Decongestant contains 10 modified-release 12-hour tablets with a film coating.
